Using Cameras

Switching the Current View to a Specific Camera

To switch to a particular Camera’s point of view within the workspace, right-click anywhere in the workspace and select Activate Camera > Camera <name>.

The workspace view will change accordingly.

Updating an Existing Camera

To change an existing Camera’s viewpoint:

  1. Use the pan and zoom tools to arrange the view that you would like the Camera to show.
  2. Right-click in the workspace and select Update Camera > Camera <name>.
  3. The existing Camera whose name you selected will be modified to fit in the current view, allowing for the Camera’s aspect ratio.
    • This Camera will now show the updated view when activated or used in a recording as an active Camera.
  4. (Optional) You can undo Camera updates by pressing <Ctrl + Z>.

Setting the Active Camera for a Video Recording

  1. Right-click on the relevant Record AVI Track at the time the Camera should activate, then select “Set active Camera” from the menu.
    • The ‘Camera’ dialog is displayed. The new Event and time are displayed in the Registered Events box.
  2. If required, enter a name in the Event name box.
  3. To run this Event when next time the simulation is recorded, leave the Enable this Event box checked (or uncheck the box to not activate the Camera during recording).
  4. From the Activate Camera drop-down list, select the Camera you would like to activate at this point. Click OK to save the Event.
  5. Repeat from Step 1 for any other active Cameras you would like to set.
    Tip: If your Camera Event is not at the start of the Record AVI Event, and the Record AVI Event is set to use the active Camera, the Whole Model Camera is used automatically.

Setting the Active Camera for a Map Recording

In the Save Map Event for when a Map or Maps should be recorded, select the Camera to use from the “Use Camera” drop-list.

The default selection is the Whole Model Camera.

Setting the Active Camera for the Screen Camera Track

  1. Right-click on the Screen Camera Track at the time the Camera should activate, then select “Set active Camera” from the menu.
    • The ‘Camera’ dialog is displayed. The new Event and time are displayed in the Registered Events box.
  2. If required, enter a name in the Event name box.
  3. To run this Event when next time the simulation is recorded, leave the Enable this Event box checked (or uncheck the box to not activate the Camera during recording).
  4. From the Activate Camera drop-down list, select the Camera you would like to activate at this point. Click OK to save the Event.
  5. Repeat from Step 1 for any other active Cameras you would like to set.
    Tip: For Snapshot Events that occur before Camera Events, the current view is used.
